3016 Cadet Corps Parent Committee Meeting Minutes

February 8, 2012   18:20 – 19:05 (Meaghan Heck adjourned; Stacey Fennell second the motion)

Mark –

  • BBQ & Garage Sale – probable dates – May 26, May 27 or June 10.  Will be held at 2Lt. Taylor’s house at 922 Allen Street, Airdrie.

 

Heather –

  • Parents $xxxxxx as of today
  • Casino $xxxxxx

 

Stacey –

  • Tupperware fundraiser packages were handed out to each cadet last week.
  • Proceeds will be 40% of the fundraiser items.  Stacey is also donating 15% of her commissions made in the month of February, so people can order from the whole product line.
  • The deadline for placing the fundraising orders is Wednesday, February 22.
  • If ordering online, shipments will be direct shipped to the customer.

 

Heather (on behalf of Lorna) –

  • Casino fundraising was done on February 6th and 7th at Century Casino.  The casino made money on these days.
  • Thank you to all the volunteers who helped out.  Everyone seemed to have a great time.
  • An application is already submitted for the next casino fundraiser to be held in 27 months.

 

Renae –

  • Paula Mitchell-Bentley has advertised in many of the local papers and websites.
  • Ticket sales have been going great.  Probable sell-out will occur.
  • Supper starts at 6:30.  There are about 150 lots for auction with an approximate value of $9,000.00
  • Volunteers will be needed for 50/50 tickets selling, distributing door prizes, and auction tasks.
  • If all 50/50 tickets are sold, both the winner and the cadets will receive $850.00.
  • There will a draw for a Texas Mickey – donated by Ron & Leanne Bruneau.
  • Renae will create a schedule for volunteers.  Please talk to Renae tonight if you are able to help out.

 

Gord (Airdrie Legion representative) –

  • Thanked the volunteers who helped out at the casino.
  • Drill practice will take place at the Legion on Sunday, February 12, 19, 26 from 8:30 to 12:00.
  • NCO training will help set up for the Special Olympics
  • Legion will need 10 cadets for Saturday, March 10.
  • If you come by the Legion, please sign in.  Children are welcome until 8:00 pm.

 

Ed –

  • The Annual General Meeting will be held in Edmonton, February 24, 25 & 26.
  • Vimy Pins have been purchased for every cadet in Alberta.  Pins are to be worn on the left-hand pocket over the button from April 1 to June 30.
  • The photo contest had 65 entries.  Our corp had entries in every category.
  • The annual Colonel Lee S. Thompson Award is given to the parent volunteer who endlessly goes over & above.  This year’ Southern Zone Colonel Lee S. Thompson Award winner is Heather Undershute.  Congratulations Heather.
  • The names of the Honour Cadets will be released soon.
  • Small bore (.22 cal) shooting contest winners – Airdrie came in both 2nd & 3rd place.

 

2Lt. Taylor (on behalf of Captain Mark) –

  • Thanks to all the volunteers for working at the Casino.
  • Last weekend’s FTX was a huge success.  The tests are not yet scored.  The results will be given out next week.
  • SAT training will be on February 9 for groups 1, 2 & 3 and on February 23 for groups 4, 5 & 6 from 6:30 to 9:00.  This is not a mandatory event.  Details will be posted on the website.
  • Captain Mark has been interviewed with Airdrie 360.  The Airdrie Echo will be here tonight and on Saturday, at Dick’s Pub, as well.

 

Brent Marchessault –

  • Will book the big BBQ for the Garage Sale.
  • Will not be at Dick’s on Saturday night so he is asking that someone finishes the selling of the tickets.   Meaghan Heck took charge of running the 50/50.

 

Stacey –

  • For the garage sale, Stacey will contact the lady who picked up the unsold items last year.
  • It is believed that her proceeds go towards help for pets.  Stacey will verify.

 

Captain Mark -

  • March 3 will be the Regional tri-service Drill Team competition.
  • April 27 to 29 is the Airdrie Trade Show held at the Genesis Place.  The cost of the table is $150.00 and we are registered.
  • April 28 is the Fitness Competition.
  • May 5 & 6 is another FTX.
  • At the March 9th Parent Meeting, the trip to Vimy Ridge in April, 2013 will be discussed.
