This is the fourth level for cadets.
PO 401 – Drill
The instruction for gold star cadets is more difficult. It includes organizing large parades, executing flag party drill and teaching other cadets the basic foot drill.
PO 402 – Fundamental Training
The gold star fundamental training focuses on skills that a senior NCO will require, such as, being able to write a memorandum. Cadets will also have the opportunity to complete a parade state, and request items for support.
PO 403 – Bushcraft
There is no formal training in Bushcraft for gold star cadets. The link will take you to the Army Cadet Reference Manual.
PO 405 – Map and Compass
Cadets in gold star learn the difficult procedure of determining their location by completing a re-section. To pass the National Star Certification Examinationthis skill must be mastered. Planning a navigation exercise and using a Global Positioning System are important components covered in gold star map and compass.
PO 406 – Marksmanship
Everyone on a range has a specific duty to perform to ensure safety is maintained. Gold star cadets learn the duties and responsibilities of range personnel.
PO 409 – Instructional Techniques
The leadership and public speaking training are two aspects that have a large influence on Instructional Technique. Gold star cadets will review information from silver star and then be given many opportunities to develop their skills in delivering lessons.
PO 410 – Public Speaking
There is no training in Public Speaking for gold star cadets. The link will take you to the Army Cadet Reference Manual.
PO 411 – Leadership
Task procedure is the format used by military planners in order to efficiently plan to complete any type of task or solve a problem. Task procedure is a focus in gold star. Discipline and the responsibilities of a leader are also discussed.
PO 412 – Citizenship
To tie into the Task Procedure learned in Leadership, gold star cadets will have to organize a corps activity.
PO 413 – Physical Fitness
Gold star cadets will also plan and organize a cadet corps tabloid sports meet.
