Mail in Shooting Competition

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Contests, Events, Marksmanship

Saturday, Dec. 3 is the mail in shooting competition day.  25 cadets have signed up for this event that will be held at the Steve Johnson Range.  Cadets need to be there from 9:30AM – 4PM.  Dress in warm civilian clothing and BRING A LUNCH!  Cadets will be using .22 rifles for this event.  Targets will be mailed in for judging in the competition and Captain Mark will let us know how we did at a later date.

You can download the 2011 Alberta Army Cadet League Photo Competition Rules and Entry Form here.

Each year, the Alberta Army Cadet League runs a photo contest.  For the last two years, Capt. Mark has won the CIC award.  The top two pics on the contest rules are Capt. Mark’s photos of Airdrie Army Cadets.

Cadets are strongly encouraged to give it a try.  You might win!  Last year, there were NO ENTRIES in the senior cadet category, so any senior entering a remotely reasonable photo would have won $250!

Like I said, give it a try.  You could win!

The 2010 winners are listed here.

50/50 tickets for sale

By Mark Bentley | Filed in Contests, Events, Notices

The Airdrie Army Cadets Parent’s Committee is currently running a 50/50 pool and would appreciate it if parents could take some tickets to sell. Tickets are 3 for $5 and are available from Diann Marchessault. We will be doing the draw after the ACR. This is a great chance to help raise money to keep our corps running so well. Money is used for things like Highland uniforms, the ACR, cadet photos, etc.

A special thanks to Brent Marchessault for setting this up.

For a second straight year, Capt Mark has won the CIC, CI, CV portion of the Army Cadet League Photo Contest.

All Airdrie Army Cadets are strongly urged to try this competition.  The prizes are great and frankly the participation has been rather minimal.  This year, there were no entries in the senior cadet portion, which means that had any senior cadet gotten around to submitting something, they would have won $250!

Here are Capt. Mark’s winning photos.  Larger copies of the images can be viewed at the Army Cadet League website.

The Alberta Army Cadet League runs a yearly photography contest open to all Alberta Army Cadets and staff.  Last year, Capt. Mark won the Photographer of the Year and CIC/CI/CV awards.

The deadline for this year’s competition is coming up quickly and entries must be received by December 31, 2010.  There are categories for CIC/CI/CV, Senior Cadet and Junior Cadet.  This contest is well worth taking a look at and remember, even if you don’t have any photos for this year, there is always next year.

This year, photographs can be submitted either as prints or through digital upload.

See the rules at the Alberta Army Cadet League Photography Contest 2010 page.  To see the winners from last year, see the 2009 Photo Contest Winners.
