Airdrie 360 Interview

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Fundraiser, In The News, Notices

Have you ever heard of Airdrie 360?  Definitely worth checking out.  This site does video interviews and has lots of information about current events, local business information, new iniatives, fundraisers and information on happenings around Airdrie.  Each week they feature a different topic and make a video about it.  Some recent topics include the fundraiser done by Human Kanvas, the recent renovation at the Hair Lounge, and, of course, an interview with our commanding officer Captain Tanya Mark.

This interview features information about cadets, the cadet program, activities that our group is involved with, the great opportunities that the cadet program can offer as well as information about our upcoming Fundraiser.

Marpat Field Gear Order

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Notices

We will be putting in another field gear order for cadets wishing to order some Marpat pieces.

Print off the order form here 3016 Airdrie Army Cadets MARPAT Field Clothing Order Form – Feb and hand it in with payment to cadets no later than February 29, 2012.

**NOTE**:  Our supplier does not allow returns or exchanges on this merchandise. ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH NO RETURNS!!

Sorry, but our supplier will not take them back from us.  If you are unsure of the sizing, there is a sizing chart.  Measure the waist and inseam for the pant size.  Keep in mind that the pants are tucked into the boots so the length isn’t as important.  Measure the chest and height for the shirt size.  Many cadets also have this field gear from the last order so you should be able to find a cadet who is about the same size to help figure out the sizes.

We are hoping to have this gear order back in time for March’s FTX but cannot guarantee it.  It depends on how many orders are received and how long it takes our supplier to get the merchandise in.

This gear is NOT mandatory in any way.  It is an optional purchase for those who would like it.  We do not have a program in place to cover the cost of these for cadets unfortunately so parents and cadets are on their own to provide them.  However, as I mentioned, it is not required — merely an option.  Not all of the cadets have these.

Summer Camp information and form

By Mark Bentley | Filed in Notices, Summer Camp

Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps Summer Training Camp

Here is the pamphlet outlining and explaining the various courses and locations available to your child this summer.  If your child is a new cadet and under the age of 14, he or she has no choice but  to attend General Training (2 weeks), in Vernon.

Please fill out the Summer Training Request Form and return to cadets NO LATER than next week, or your child will not be attending training this summer.  Timing is critical, as the  deadline for submission is 1 Feb 2012. As well, the Commanding Officer must first prioritize selections based on attendance, drill, dress and deportment.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email Capt. Petcoff.

Dinner at Dick’s Poster

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Donations, Events, Notices

Here’s a link to our Dinner at Dick’s poster (Dick’s Fundraiser1) that can be hung up anywhere that allows it.  Tickets are available in extremely limited quantities and are available on a first come, first served basis!  With that being said, we are hoping to sell out of all 200 available tickets as soon as possible.  This event IS open to the public so feel free to invite family members, friends, co-workers, neighbours, etc.    Included in the ticket price is dinner, dancing and admittance to our silent auction!  There are currently over 120 auction lots with more still arriving every day!

Tickets cost $20 each with half of that money being donated directly to the corps to help pay for the kids’ training, uniforms, special activities such as swim and sports days, marksmanship training, band costs, drill training, etc.  With the huge increase in numbers of kids registered comes a huge need to increase our fundraising!  These fundraisers are what makes cadets an activity that can be affordable to EVERYONE.  Most of the cadets activities, training and clothing is provided to families at absolutely no cost to them whatsoever.

Thanks for your help everybody!!

Please email AirdrieArmyCadets@hotmail.com for more information.

With our Feb 11th silent auction coming up, we are looking for donations.  Here is a letter (February Donation Letter) that can be taken to local businesses, employers and anyone else you know who might be willing to donate items.  Please give any items to Mark Bentley along with information about who donated the item so that we can recoznise them.

We’ve been keeping a running list of businesses that have already been approached on the post “Silent Auction Items Needed” under the comments.  You’ll have to click the “Older Comments” link at the bottom of the comments to view them all.  It would be great if some of the cadets local to Airdrie could deliver our donation letter to some local Airdrie businesses.  Many of them really do want to help and only need to be asked!  All that’s needed is to drop the letter off to business owners — any additional questions or pick-up arrangements will come to Mark Bentley because it’s his email and phone number that are listed on the letter.

Cash donations are also quite welcome!  Cheques can be made out the Alberta Army Cadet League in order to get a tax receipt.  Here is a letter to use when requesting cash donations.

Thanks so much for your help everyone!!
