Last night on dismissal parade it was inadvertently stated that tomorrow nights Drill Training was taking place at the Ag Bldg. That information is wrong.

The Drill Training will take place at Ralph McCall School in the gym from 1800-2100.

Remember ANYONE (Cadets and Parents included) entering the gymnasium must remove outdoor footwear.

With winter here, the people in charge of the school have once again reminded us that there are no wet or dirty shoes allowed in the school. All cadets and families are asked to please bring a set of clean shoes for indoors when visiting Ralph McCall School. All wet and dirty out door shoes must be left in the shoe area before entering the gym.

Anyone not bringing clean indoor shoes will be asked to either leave their outside shoes at the door or wait outside the gym.

CO Parade Moved

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Notices

Just a heads up that the CO parade has been moved from Dec. 7 to Dec. 14.  The parade on Dec. 7 will be a physical training event so all cadets should be in their PT (Physical Training) gear with a water bottle.  Wear shorts/sweats and a t-shirt so that you can participate in all PT activities.

Last Minute RSVPs

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Notices

Nov. 30/Dec. 1 is the deadline to RSVP for the Christmas party so if you’ve been waiting for the last minute — it’s now!!  It’s easy to do — just email the cadet name, number of guests and what potluck dish you plan on bringing.  Also mention if you plan on bringing an item for our silent auction and your phone number if you are.  Send the info to bea2089@live.ca before the deadline passes!!  I want to see all of the cadets and their families in attendance for what is sure to be a fun night!!!

Cadet Phone List

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Notices

There seems to be some issue about the cadet phone list.  If you opt into it, your name and number will be available to other cadets when they need it.  Parents must opt in if they want to be on it.  Since there is no longer a cadet arranged car pool, the phone list is used to contact other members in advance of events to arrange rides or anything else that parents or cadets need to contact each other for.

If you are not on the phone list, you cannot get the phone list.  Participation in the phone list is completely optional.  If cadets need a ride somewhere, do not call at the last minute and expect someone to arrange it for you.  It’s up to the cadets and their parents to ensure that their rides are taken care of.  If they would like a phone list of cadets, it is up to the parents to opt into the list.  This is done so that there is no invasion of privacy or problems surrounding sharing phone numbers.  We realize that some of our new cadets are quite young and that parents are sometimes too busy to get them to all cadet functions.  However, it is up to each individual cadet and their parents to organize rides and car pool information.  Please post here with any questions or concerns regarding this.

Thanks!!

Cadet Forum

By Paula Mitchell-Bentley | Filed in Notices

Just a quick note to say that the forum portion of this web page is up and running.  You can register as a user here to list gear for sale (like combats that were ordered in the wrong size), talk about gear, shop for gear, etc. etc.  Click on the tab that says “Forum” along the top of this page — sort of midway through.

Please leave a comment on this post if you’re having a problem getting going.  I know there’s a couple of gear listings already for XL shirts and XS pants.

Royal Canadian Legion LogoChristmas is traditionally a season for giving.  This year, we would like to do a food drive for the Veteran’s Food Bank.  For the rest of 2011, we would like to encourage Airdrie Army Cadets to bring in donations for the Veteran’s Food Bank.  It doesn’t have to be much, even a few items here and there can really add up.

So, please bring what you can to cadets and we will make sure that it gets passed on to the Veteran’s Food bank!
