There are approximately 150 items up for auction tonight with a total retail value of over $10,000. All money raised from this auction will go to the corps to help cover the costs of uniforms, training, transportation, instrument costs, facility rentals, etc. etc. etc. that are all paid for by the corps so that the program is available to everyone regardless of income level. Fundraisers such as this one are crucial to the corps success in being able to continue the no-fee policy that the cadets movement is famous for.
At tonight’s auction we will be accepting payments by cash or check. We have even rented a payment terminal so that we can accept credit card payments this time!! I hope that this event is extremely successful. Remember that all the money is going to support the kids:)
We have all sorts of items that might catch your eye to be bid on tonight. While we don’t have the kitchen sink, we do have the taps!!! Here’s a quick list of some of the items that are up for bids tonight:
A big thank-you to all of the companies, crafters and artists who have donated to our silent auction fundraiser. We could not have organized this auction without the support and generosity of such a varied range of people providing us goods to raise money for the kids. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Sunday, Feb. 26 – Meet at Legion from 08:30 until 1200
Tuesday, Feb. 28 – Meet at Ralph McCall from 1800-2100
Joining the drill team is mandatory for cadets at silver and gold star levels. There is a new points system in place for NCSE and participating in drill team will help cadets earn points to advance to their next levels.

There is a parent’s committee meeting tonight that all cadet parents are encouraged to attend. These meetings are the best way to stay informed as to what the cadets will be doing in the next few weeks. Our parent’s committee works hard to keep the cadet corps running as efficiently as possible and it would great to see more parents involved in the process.
Parent’s committee meetings are the second Wednesday of every month. Our elections are coming up for next year’s parent’s committee in May. We are always looking for new volunteers and parents to help out.

Have you ever heard of Airdrie 360? Definitely worth checking out. This site does video interviews and has lots of information about current events, local business information, new iniatives, fundraisers and information on happenings around Airdrie. Each week they feature a different topic and make a video about it. Some recent topics include the fundraiser done by Human Kanvas, the recent renovation at the Hair Lounge, and, of course, an interview with our commanding officer Captain Tanya Mark.
This interview features information about cadets, the cadet program, activities that our group is involved with, the great opportunities that the cadet program can offer as well as information about our upcoming Fundraiser.

We will be putting in another field gear order for cadets wishing to order some Marpat pieces.
Print off the order form here 3016 Airdrie Army Cadets MARPAT Field Clothing Order Form – Feb and hand it in with payment to cadets no later than February 29, 2012.
**NOTE**: Our supplier does not allow returns or exchanges on this merchandise. ALL SALES ARE FINAL WITH NO RETURNS!!
Sorry, but our supplier will not take them back from us. If you are unsure of the sizing, there is a sizing chart. Measure the waist and inseam for the pant size. Keep in mind that the pants are tucked into the boots so the length isn’t as important. Measure the chest and height for the shirt size. Many cadets also have this field gear from the last order so you should be able to find a cadet who is about the same size to help figure out the sizes.
We are hoping to have this gear order back in time for March’s FTX but cannot guarantee it. It depends on how many orders are received and how long it takes our supplier to get the merchandise in.
This gear is NOT mandatory in any way. It is an optional purchase for those who would like it. We do not have a program in place to cover the cost of these for cadets unfortunately so parents and cadets are on their own to provide them. However, as I mentioned, it is not required — merely an option. Not all of the cadets have these.
