Friday Dec. 9 is try outs for the drill team. All cadets are welcome to come! If you’d like to learn more about drill and how to perfect the techniques, come to Ralph McCall from 6 – 9PM on Friday. Dress in civilians and bring parade boots. Remember that you cannot wear your outside shoes into the school so come with parade boots in your hand!!
I hope there’s a big turn out for this latest new activity that we are starting up:)

The cadets who came to the sports day yesterday at Genesis Place had a blast! They played a few sports including basketball and soccer. Afterwards, 25 of them went swimming and cadets paid for their entrance! A good time was definitely had by all. Go to the facebook page here to check out some of the pictures from yesterday.

After the MANDATORY sports day event on Sunday November 27 at Genesis Place, the cadets will have the OPTION of going swimming. The sports events will run from 1:00 – 3:00 PM and the swimming will be from 3:00 – 5:00. Cadets are responsible for finding their own transportation to and from the event. Refer to the phone list if you are looking for a ride or call your section leader. Cadets must be dropped off and picked up ON TIME.
Cadets must wear suitable attire for sports such as shorts/sweats and a t-shirt. Bring a water bottle!
Cadets who plan on swimming must bring a swim suit and towel.
This will also be the Cadet event besides band that they can hand in their RSVP forms for the Christmas party. The deadline for these forms is Nov.30 as written on the form itself. Your RSVP can also be emailed to Beverlie McLeod at bea2089@live.ca. Please include the following information: name of cadet, number of people attending, potluck item, whether or not you are bringing a silent auction item and your phone number if planning on bringing an item to the auction. Cadets must RSVP their intent to come to the Christmas party in order to receive tickets to the event. If a cadet does not have tickets, they will not be able to attend!

The 3016 cadets will be having a mandatory Sports Day at Genesis Place on Sunday, November 27 from 1300 – 1500.
Wear appropriate clothing for sports — ensure that you have running shoes, sweat pants or yoga pants, etc.
Bring a water bottle!
Cadets will also have the option of going swimming after sports day from 1500-1700. Make sure to bring bathing suits and towels if you plan on swimming!!

On Sunday at the range cadets will learn proper procedure on range drills and be shooting the .22 and air rifle. (this may be the last time we shoot until Spring, due to weather, this will be a mandatory day as well)
All cadets with the last name starting with A-L will be shooting from 0930-1215
All cadets with the last name starting with M-Z will be shooting from 1230-1530.
The range is roughly at 6710 11 St NE. There is a large sign on the airport side of the road.

Just a reminder that there is a MANDATORY TRAINING DAY ON SATURDAY 22 OCT 2011, at Ralph McCall School 0930-1700
Green Stars need to bring a extra change of clothing (pt gear) irons, ironing boards(if you have one), sewing box and kiwi polish/kiwi cloth, they are going to learn how to properly do their uniforms, also they need notepads and pens.
Cadets will also be given their Glens on that day (if they successfully pass their test tonight)
PLEASE BRING A LUNCH, CADETS CANNOT LEAVE THE BUILDING TO GO GET LUNCH. Canteen will be available.

On Oct 19, 2011, the Airdrie Army Cadets will be holding parade at the Military Museums in Calgary (on Crowchild Trail across from the old Currie Barracks) from 1830-2130 (6:30-9:30). Cadets will be able to learn about the Calgary Highlander Regiment and be able to obtain their head dress ‘Glens’ if they pass a written test. This is the only way for cadets to earn their glens.
As usual, please bring a food donation for the veterans food bank.
Please note that there is no car pooling arranged for this. Cadets are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the museum. If you need a ride, it is suggested that you talk to the other cadets to arrange something.
